41 Years in Prison in Tibet Tanak Jigme Sangpo, a 70-year old Tibetan, is currently serving a 28-year sentence in Drapchi prison in Lhasa, the capital of Tibet. He was arrested in 1983 for pasting a wall poster protesting against the Chinese occupation at the main temple in Lhasa. Tanak had already served 13 years in Chinese prisons in Tibet. By the time he completes his present 28-year term on September 3, 2011 at the age of 84, he will have spent 41 years in prison for the peaceful expression of opinion. Tanak Jigme Sangpo needs the help of the international community to demand justice from the Chinese authorities. The Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Dharamsala, India has asked Tibet supporters to write to Chinese Premier Li Peng seeking the release of Tanak Jigme Sangpo:
